Study Rooms and Student Media Production Room

Welcome

This guide covers all study rooms and the new Student Media Production Room, or 'Ulu Room.

Before using a room, please read the Policies.

Before using a room with equipment you must sign a loan agreement (paper copy for signature at Circulation Desk).

 

Printing

Students are able to print out their presentations to the Pharos printers.  Black and white printers are located on all three floors and a color printer is located on the main floor.

1. To print to B/W Printers

a) Select Xerox 5550 Phazer from the printer options.

b) You will be prompted to enter a name and password for your print job.

c) Your print job should be waiting at the print stations.  You must use a print card (either your student ID card or print card from vendor-main level by circulation desk). B/W prints are 10 cents per page.

2. To print to the color printer

a) Select Library color printer 4700 from the printer options.

b) You will be prompted to enter a name and password for your print job.

c) Your print job should be waiting at the color print station on the main floor.  You must use a print card (either your student ID card or print card from vendor-main level by circulation desk). Color prints are 50 cents per page.

 

Library Study Rooms

The library has study rooms on the Main and Upper Levels for student use. See study room locations on our library floorplan. You can go to the library Circulation Desk to check out a study room key.  Study Rooms can also be reserved one week in advance. (Come to the Circulation Desk or call 974-7344).

Please read the Study Room Policies before using these rooms.

The Microsoft Office Suite is available on the mac minis in Rooms 320, 321, 332 and 333. 

Programs Include:

•       WORD
•       EXCEL
•       POWERPOINT
•       ONENOTE

Share your Powerpoint with a group. Practice and collaborate on your presentations. Compose and edit documents as a group.

What's Available?

In the 'Ulu Room there is an overhead projection system, an iMac editing station, a scanner, and a PolyCom HDX 6000 video conference system connected to one of the two Sony Flat Screen Monitors.

Students may use the iMac to create presentation material. Presentations can be uploaded to a MacMini connected to the overhead projector in order to run through them and practice delivery.

The following software packages are installed on the iMac:

    • Acrobat X Professional
    • Bridge CS6
    • Dreamweaver CS6
    • Fireworks CS6
    • Flash Professional CS6
    • Illustrator CS6
    • InDesign CS6
    • Media Encoder CS6
    • Photoshop CS6 Extended

  • Books for the software programs are available.

Not included:

  • You must save to your own USB drive or send to your own email.  Do NOT save anything to the computers - non-system files will be deleted on a regular basis.
